BIKE SAFETY

It is finally spring and time to get all the bikes out! In order to prepare students for another season of safe riding, École Bannatyne will be hosting a Bicycle Safety Workshop for all the students in Grades 3 through 5. On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017, representatives from Manitoba Public Insurance will present a theory portion (helmet fit, bike fit and condition, and rules of the road) before allowing each class to practice their learned skills by travelling through an obstacle course outside. In the case of inclement weather, an alternate, but related activity will occur in the gymnasium.

Due to recent changes in legislation, it is now mandatory for any child under the age of 18 years old to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. Students who bring bikes, must bring a helmet to participate in the day’s activities. To simplify things, please put your child’s name on their helmet and bike. Students may drop off their bike and helmet Tuesday (May 23) morning between 7:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., but the bikes must be picked up Tuesday (May 23) after school between 3:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. If a student has a bike lock, he/she is asked to lock his/her bike up in the bike rack located on the south side of the school. If a student does not have a bike lock, his/her bike will be stored in the gymnasium. Students that do not have a bike or cannot bring their bike will still be able to participate in some capacity in the day’s activities. If a student brings his/her own helmet, but is unable to bring a bike, he/she will be allowed to share a bike with a friend.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school at 888-1101 or e-mail me at nbeaudin@sjsd.net. Thank you for your cooperation!

Sincerely,

Mme Beaudin

Jump Rope for Heart
2016-2017

Information regarding this year's Jump Rope for Heart will be sent home later this week. Did you know that to date, the dedicated families of École Bannatyne have raised approximately $68,800? Last year alone, we raised almost $10,000.00! That is truly amazing!

Please note:In order to participate, interested students must return their signed parent consent forms to Mme Beaudin by Wednesday, April 12th, 2017. All online donations must be completed and all collection envelopes must be returned to the school no later than Wednesday, April 26th, 2017. This is a firm deadline as the money will be collected by the Heart & Stroke and they will be ordering the thank-you prizes as soon as possible. Failure to meet this deadline may result in your child not receiving his/her thank-you prize before the end of the school year.

Thank you kindly in advance for your cooperation and donations!
