Terry Fox Run 2016

On Tuesday, September 13th, 2016, we were honoured to have Fred Fox, Terry Fox’s older brother, come visit our school. He shared some wonderful family memories and photos of the Fox family, their connection to Winnipeg and the Marathon of Hope. His presentation was a great reminder as to why it is so important to continue supporting the Terry Fox Run and cancer research.

On Friday, September 30th, the students will once again be running/walking in honor of Terry Fox. They will be running/walking outside before their morning recess. Please note that a donation is not necessary, but on that day, the school will only be collecting loonie ($1) and toonie ($2) donations. If you wish to donate more money to the Terry Fox Foundation, you may do so online or by cheque made payable to The Terry Fox Foundation. If donating by cheque, please print and complete the mini-pledge sheet found below and send it to the school with payment to ensure that you receive a tax receipt. To make an online pledge, go to terryfox.org and click on the National School Run Day tab and continue to follow the provided instructions.

Thank you in advance for your donations, they are greatly appreciated! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school at 888-1101 or email me at nbeaudin@sjsd.net. Thank you for your cooperation!

Jump Rope for Heart

A big thank-you and congratulations to all the students and families who collected money for Jump Rope for Heart. This year, we raised an official whopping total of $9,946.65. We set an initial fundraising goal of $7,000.00 and the donations received from the Bannatyne community far exceeded that amount. At one point in mid-April, we were the top fundraising school online in ALL of Manitoba. Over the years, the École Bannatyne community has donated approximately $68,800 to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and we would like to send a sincere thank-you to all of the École Bannatyne families and friends, past and present, that have participated in the Jump Rope for Heart program. A special thank you also to the Blacher family for sharing their personal story with the Bannatyne students. It was a great reminder for all of us as to why we do fundraising such as Jump Rope for Heart.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated and we couldn’t have done this without you! We are so very proud of our wonderful community. Merci à ceux qui ont participé, vous êtes merveilleux!
